Great Expectations, Charles Dickens' novel, tells the story of an orphan named Philip Pirrip (nicknamed Pip) who narrates the story of his life from childhood to adulthood. Pip is the protagonist of the tale and is also the narrator. Throughout the novel, Pip depicts his journey to becoming a gentleman.
