Smart Fertilizers and Innovative Organic Amendments for Sustainable Agricultural Systems

Sustainable agricultural practices are needed to provide food security for a growing global population. Food production is usually associated with high nutrient inputs in the form of mineral fertilisers. Since the beginning of agriculture, such practices have led to soil degradation and the release of environmental contaminants. This book focuses on innovations in organic and inorganic fertiliser production. We have compiled studies presenting smart fertilization strategies. The idea for this book originated from the Chilean-French collaboration of the three guest editors during the MEC fellowship of Dr. Cornelia Rumpel at the Universidad de la Frontera in Temuco (Chile).
