<p><span class="fontstyle0">Cerita rakyat negara Arab pada umumnya berupa kisah mitologi, kisah kepahlawanan (epik), kisah kerajaan beserta para pangeran dan putri, serta kisah masyarakat sehari-hari di zaman dahulu (</span><span class="fontstyle0" style="">urban legend</span><span class="fontstyle0">). Kisah mitologi bangsa Arab cukup berbeda dengan mitologi Yunani yang terkenal dengan dewa-dewinya. Meskipun ada, kisah dewa-dewi tidak terlalu populer. Ada juga makhluk mitologi yang dipercaya bangsa Arab. Makhluk tersebut umumnya dari golongan monster dan jin, seperti ghoul, bahamut, nasnas, ifrit, dan lain sebagainya. Selain jin, tidak banyak kisah tentang makhluk-makhluk mitologi tersebut.</span>
